The 4th Annual World of Martial Arts

Falun Gong Practitioners Invited to Perform Falun Gong Meditation Exercises & Traditional Chinese Dance

The 4th annual World of Martial Arts occurred on Saturday October 18th 2003 at Seattle's Queen Anne Community Center.  Audiences enjoyed a variety of Asian martial arts at this event, which was hosted by Chamber of Shadows.  Among these were Falun Gong, Kung-fu, Tang Soo Do, Aikido, Karate, Tai chi, Capoeira, Cardio Kick Boxing, etc.

This first performer’s on stage were the Falun Gong practitioners.  Matt, a 76-year-old practitioner, introduced three other practitioners to the audience, including an 12-year- old practitioner.  The three practitioners demonstrated all five sets of exercises while Matt talked about the principles of Falun Gong.  The audience enjoyed watching the slow moving, tranquil exercises.

Matt has been teaching Falun Gong exercises at the Queen Anne Community Center and many other communities including city and county jails for the last seven years.  Through learning Falun Gong exercises and the principles of Truth, Compassion, Tolerance, many people have found better health and a more peaceful life.  Matt's healthiness, energetic attitude, and kindness have been noted by thousands of people in these communities.

Following the exercise demo, six beautiful female Falun Gong practitioners performed the Lotus Flower Praise dance for the audience. The Lotus flower, is a symbol of purity in the Chinese culture.  The rising of the Lotus flower from the mud represents

purity and divinity. Through this traditional Chinese dance, the audience enjoyed learning about Chinese culture.  Both the exercise demonstration and the Lotus dance received enthusiastic applause.

This year’s festival had a large turnout.
